Having grown up in North Yorkshire and attended Scarborough Area Muisc Centre, Matt Anderson was a natural choice for the Centre’s anual celebrity concert. Each year professional Jazz musicians are invited to collaborate with the ensembles at Scarborough Music Centre in an epic day of music making concluding with a concert.
Matt, now a London based jazz saxophonist, composer and educator, composed two new pieces for both Scarborough’s E.A.S.Y band and Whitby’s Jazz Collective based on improvisation sessions he held with both ensembles in the previous weeks. The end resulat was a fantastic concert containing these two new compositions which the young people really connected to, based as they were on their own improvisations. Scarborough Music Centre concerts they are always a fine display of the young musical talent in the area.
