Bebop at the Movies

An internet-based ‘TV channel’ with the intriguing name of The Bebop Channel focusses on arts programming – films, jazz, animation, and dance – is free to watch online. Of most interest is their collection of short films from the New York Jazz Film Festival.

Subjects of these mostly short dramas include a fictionalised meeting between Charles Mingus, Charlie Parker and Bud Powell, several movies in which jazz musicians are the main protagonists often with real life jazz musicians taking the lead roles, plus some documentaries covering a wide range of jazz music.
